Here's the list! It is now officially closed. IF YOU MISSED IT OUR STILL WANT TO GO EMAIL me at blroth@yahoo.com or PM me here. DO NOT just add your name to this list. No promises from this point on but I will see what I can do. No idea what or how any prizes for the rally will happen if we feel like doing a rally now since we can't seem to get participation in most everything else that we spend our time working on. We will now work on a menu with the restaurant.

Since there are so few my idea at this point is to get some choices from the restaurant (like 3-4 to chose from that are all priced the same) include the tip then get everybody the price to have in cash that evening as everyone here seems to be the "regulars" anyways. I would need to know your meal choices prior though (once we come up with them)

Second option would be simply to have ya choose of the menu (so long as the restaurant will go for it and have each table come up with the bill). This to me is always the most difficult because someone always ends up getting stuck covering the tip for others, etc.

Final option is to decide on a meal or two and then have a family style dinner at each table.

Please, let me know what everyone thinks in the next couple days then we will make the decision based on that. Also, ANY VEGANS, VEGATARIANS OR special dieters out there?

The restaurant is typically closed on Saturday evenings so we will have it to ourselfs. The lot, however, is not the biggest so we're hoping that carpooling happens. Thank you everybody for being understanding.

A very tired and disappointed benebob

Thank you for your hard work.

It does seem that people are much more pre-occupied with other stuff this year, but I still think it will be a great event!

The second option probably isn't a good one. Seeing as she doesn't really have a "dinner menu". Her dinner menu runs along the lines as your first option and changes from night to night.

I personally like the first option.

If you have any suggestions on specific menu items, mention them now. Of course, she can't do 30 different menus. But, since it is looking like 30 meals rather than 70 like she was originally told, I'm sure she can be somewhat flexible with the planning.

Since we are already back at the Morgantown Holiday Inn (with a great bar), have we considered seeing what the restaurant there will be willing to do for the group?

It may be short notice, but there would be no problem with parking, carpooling, etc. Now that we have come back, they may be willing to go the little extra in order to keep us happy.

You would think they'd be happy to have us back but from what I hear you would be wrong. They wanted $250 just for a room rental. Add that up and it translates into $5 a person based on 50 (which we can't even come close to anyways. We'd be looking at $30 a person at least. Virtually all options have been searched in the area. It really doesn't help being back as there isn't much around there unlike the other location plus it isn't that close to any of the planners.

Besides, personally I'd rather give my money to a start up business owner than a huge corp that can't see past the bottom line anyways. Besides, she's family as she's related to a memeber and she drives a Subaru. Trust me you won't be disappointed with the food, or atmosphere.

The parking shouldn't be a huge issue as I'd guess 10 cars will fit there and we already know Ron shouldn't be driving by that point in the day

You have my complete understanding and sympathy when it comes to organizing dinner (yet some who didn't actually attend still criticized my attempts... ). It's not easy when no one will commit.
My name's on the list and I'm up for anything as long as chicken is not the only item on the menu.
Can't wait!

With all the quibbling over the cuisine, you see why I always tote a box lunch.

I say we rent a stretch Amish buggy limo, & do the church thing.

I'll eat anything not containing tofu, sprouts, or the insides of farm animals.

Ben,
Sorry there does not seem to be much support. Last year the dinner was a blast!! People just don't know what they will be missing - and those not even signed up for Reading VI don't know what they are missing either.
As for the menu, I would suggest Option one, however, at this point I would keep it very simple - the KISS principle applies!

Thanks for all ya'll's hard work on this meet. I don't care how many come - those that don't? It is their loss! I am looking forward to getting together with "all of the regulars! Now THAT's the real FAMILY!!!!! :D . This will be a great meet!!!!!!!!! Regardless. But Ben, don't you or the others helping lose any money on this deal! Okay? Us regulars will make sure you don't!

BTW, I'll take the responsibility of getting Ron to the dinner - he would need help anyway, but certainly by then  ;) .

Aye, there's the rub. Folks don't realize that it's not about the dinner, it's about "da peeps." :) It's not about the cars, it's about the comp'ny. And, to us "regulars," it's usually the only time during the year that we get to hang out with each other. That said, let's see if we can't get more cooperation, y'all. Time's short -- I'm looking forward to it -- in fact, I "NEED" it. :D

So I'm assuming you're planning on picking up the tab for the contract that we signed? Like I said all possiblities were explored and if you add this stuff up you get about $30 a person for crap once you include the tip in there You can do whatever you want next year. ;) I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since you're so eager to help out (even though I clearly stated that dinner was taken care off) how about we just let you set up the Rally?

Yeah good grief it is. I'm sick and tired of everyone butting their heads in things at the last minute. As far as I'm concerned now I'm totally done with reading from this point on. Not even sure if I'll go as I'm sick and tired of the complaining that I have to put up with. Then idiots decide 2 weeks out that they are gonna get involved. Well good. Ben,

I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes or diminish the amount of time and effort you have contributed on our belhalf.

I was originally following up with Tony about the current room situations (how many registered, how many rooms were still on, or were taken off, the reserve block, accommodations and rates for last minute attendees, etc.) I happened to mention the 250.00 fee for a dining room and the other concerns to him and he made this offer.

I am always eager to help out whenever asked. I have initiated and negotiated the 4 past Reading room contracts, starting back in October of each year. I guess it is assumed that I will take the initiative on this and I don't mind it one bit. This contribution pales in comparison to the amount of work it takes to do all of the other planning required to make Reading what it is. Rally route planning, scenic drives, prize donations from dealers and vendors, and a lot of other matters that people don't think about and take for granted.

No offense intended and you have my sincerest apology. I should have followed this thread a little more closely.

John

Obviously Randy, you're illiterate then. I'm perfectly rational. Just sick and tired of the crap.

Like I said I'm done. No drive, no rally, no events unless someone else here steps up and takes their turn. Considering since the meet was returned back to its old location (nearly an hour from me) I figure there are at least 15 SVXers closer.

Maybe I'll show maybe I won't. I'll got to dinner because unlike many here I honor my commitments.

Ben, Ben,
Please settle down. John was simply trying to help. AND he said he was sorry if he offended you. As I read his post, he clearly stated that he was not endorsing the option he addressed, and he asked about this because of what you were told by someone else about the $250 charge. A simple, "No Thanks. Things are set now and committed" would have been more appropriate than calling people idiots or illiterate - no need for that.

You and the others have done a great job this time and in the past. And we all know it is a "thankless job" that only a few of us are willing to step up to. And I know it is difficult to have someone suggest something late in the game; it is frustrating too, because not everyone knows what has gone into planning the meet. As for the hotel choice, add a bunch of hours to your hour for most of us to reach this hotel, which as I understand it, was the original location - and I DO realize being closer is a benefit to the planning aspect.
Ben, please know you are appreciated for what you have done for this and the other meets. Don't let a little miscommunication sour you on the really good fellowship we have had in the past and WILL HAVE in the future. I, for one, do hope I see you there at the meet. It has been too long.

Wow things are getting a little tence around here :( Well dinner for those that signed up is on no matter what right? I don't really understand why there is such a low signup, eaither only half the people on the signup list for Reading are comming or only half want to eat. Well as long as I get to hang out with all the usuall suspects than it will be a good time :D I really want to do a rally Ben, PLEASE!!! ;) I do think it might be a good idea to train someone in the rally making way thoe, becouse if you think your buzy with a 7 month pregnant wife at home just wait untill you have a 1 year old at home next year :)

Lets just stick with the original plan and anybody not smart enough to have joined in on time can do there own thing. Once we all get together things will always work out in the end.

Yes Jesse dinner will definately occur as scheduled and it will be the best Reading meal you've ever had complete with a 1800's well in the dining room and fabulous pics and paintings forsale adoring the place.

As for the rally, we will see, I would need to have someone willing to be trained first. It really is a huge undertaking and with only 30 or so people under 15 groups signed up for dinner personally, I'd prefer to go back to the drive. 60 cars in a line is dangerous. 15 is not.

first: i am glad to see that that the $14,000 is just "chump change" to larry, otherise i'm certain it would have been mentioned earlier.

second: what the f*** is with dinner? i haven't checked here for a bit, and now i see all this "stuff" about it. and i see a comment about the low attendence. i suspect a number were like me and didn't even look here after we signed up and knew nada about a dinner to sign up to. i see alot of time and effort have gone in to the planning (and i can assure you that any who attended in the past REALLY appreciate it, even if we don't comment on it!).

dem's a few of my thoughts.

Bill, got your email and you're fine for 2 for dinner. Of course we need a count for dinner as Reading had become bigger than. We'll all go out and stop anywhere for dinner. You can't just show up anywhere for dinner with 30 people on a Sat night and get taken care of efficently which is why for the past couple years we've needed a firm count without it we're guessing and someone has to pay for those who don't show and are signed up for the meet if we go by that besides, we don't have a clue how many people anybody is bring.

Your more then likely right about those signing up for the meet not checking back after doing so. When the deadline for rooms was getting close, I took a moment to PM everyone on the sign up list to remind them. I didn't know about the dinner til close to the last minute or probably would have done the same thing. Anyway, do we have an idea as to what the dinner choices may be?

Yeah, I've come to refer to going to meets without Shari as "Going Harry." You've gotta get Ruth to a meet. :D Much like having a hood dropped on your head is called "Pulling a Rufus." :D:D

If Ben planned for Shari, sure. I don't see a problem. I haven't really "bought" a ticket yet. Were payment options posted? Did I miss 'em?

I know. The "Every Reading Club" is getting a little smaller...

Maybe next year I'll have multiple personalities and be there twice. Does that count?

How many people are left in the Every Reading Club?

If not, let me know and I'll paypal you whatever the cost is.

I don't want you to get stuck paying extra.

Thanks Doug, it sucks you won't make it.

Looks like Lwin already wants one of the dinners. Or maybe if he's hungry enough, he'll take both. I suspect you'll be fine though.
