Last night while i was instaling the poly rear bushings i decided to see if a 1st gen legacy rear sway bar would fit since i had one laying around. I test fitting it both way and it fit in one directon, but the end links were to short to reach the say bar end links. Over all if the bar was larger in diamter you may have clearnce problems with the bar hitting the trunk, but with a hit of a hammer you would easiley have enough clearnece for a bar with another 1/2 inch diameter more than stock. The only question i have is since the end links would have to stick in about 1inch to conect to the end of the sway bar would this cause any binding? I know there are a decent amount of sway bar options for the 1st gen legacys for cheap so we may be able to have a decnet upgrade if we could get we some better end links that would work.

Not done yet, but hopefully by mid-Feb, it will be ready. I need to take care of a few house projects first.

There's very little upgrade options for a legacy rear sway, all you can get is a whiteline, no impreza bar will fit. Though I guess anything is better than nothing. What might be a better idea than extending the endlinks would be extending the bushing mounting brackets. That way it would clear the spare tire. Though you might have to worry about it clearing the exhaust, I don't know how much space it leaves. A different subaru sway bar fitting on an svx would be a blessing for those wanting that. You can get them at a fraction of the cost of what that custom one will be. Even a whiteline adjustable 20-24 is like 150 max. You could also get a used turbo/air sus bar for 20-50 depending on the person/junkyard. That's quite a chunk less than 650 :D.

True, but that the price for a custom bar, the 19mm and 20.5mm and larger (up to 22mm) prices haven't been determined yetFrom Mychailo page,
Costs:
19 mm rear bar: to be determined.
20.5 mm or larger rear bars: Please call
Custom front bar: Parts and labor for this bar are not cheap. $650 + shipping.

I'm trying my best to make the rear bar cost less than $200. Its hard to do with low volume. I'm aiming for $175.
