basically all glass. Think you could also vary the darkness
with a dial, liquid crystal design.

Why not do the Svx next :)

I've wanted a dial a tint system in my car windows for a while now. The laws around here suck. Anything that lets less than 50% light through is illegal on front windows. It would make the car look crappy to have 50 on front and 20 on back. I want to dial in 10 all around until a cop pulls me over. Then I just set it to 50% and wait for the confused look on his face. :)

Their Duck Tail spoiler looks awesome. Very reminiscent of the 69-70 Mustang.

Those roofs are very cool with the liquid crystals that can adjust the darkness of the glass. The new Mercedes Maybach 57 and 62 both have a roof like that as a factory option. :cool:

Only issue I see with any after-market roof is 'rattling'. Depending on the fit-n-finish of their product, you'll either have a nice quiet OE like ride or a cacophony of constant rattling.

Those look like PDLCs. (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals.) Their normal state looks a bit like frosted glass, just like you see in the picture. It's a white color. When power is applied, they become transparent. They're power consumption isn't enormous, but it is considerable so you can't park all day with clear windows.

The other type is electrochromic, which looks more like the LCD in you wristwatch. It can be changed from dark shades to transparent. It requires no power to maintain any particular shade. This is what most people will want.

I believe that neither of these technologies will perform as well as regular window tint. Many tints are very hard to see through when looking in, but you can see out quite easily. I'm not sure how marked this effect is or how remediable it may be with liquid crystals.

PDLCs are becoming quite common. They've only been marketed for buildings until very recently, apparently. I would guess they were chosen because they were available and they cost less, but maybe it was because it's not possible to manufacture electrochromic panes into compound curves. Just speculating. I researched this heavily a few years ago when I first thought of doing it. This is the first time I've seen any liquid crystal device in glass that wasn't completely flat. Maybe the day is coming...
