I got my 92 Pearl White back today after being painted and all of the dents and door dings removed.

I purchased this car with some large dents and lots of small door dings. I took it to the college where I work and they painted the whole car except the roof which I kept black. I also installed a spoiler which is moved 2" back. It is the stock Pearl White color.

Not usually a big pearly fan, but that looks awesome with the white trunk and the 97 grill!

That looks awesome. How many dings did you have? I have so many tiny dings on my pass door, I have no idea how to tackle the job. was any parts of your car wavy?

There was a dent over the wheel well that was bad, a baseball size indent, and some door dings. The college shop took all of the dents out as well as paint it.

I absolutely agree. Keeping the black roof is genius, as it stays true to the original design concept of being a glass to glass to glass canopy. I would have done the same, and in fact have considered having the [blue] roof on my '94 painted in a silvery black with a super thick clearcoat. Dead sexy...

That does look hot! I'm jealous  Is that factory subaru paint? It seems whiter than usual. Does it match the door jambs?

Nice corners.... are they vinyl like mine too? :)

ensteele
06-26-2004, 10:27 AM
Corners? Not sure what you mean. Yes, it seems more white, but when I compared the color to the stock mirror that I replaced, it is the same stock color. That is the paint that they used - stock. The door jams are the same as well. I think it looks more white becuase it doesn't have as much black. :) :)

Here is an all pearl SVX - even with pearl wheels. It seems like there is too much pearl - at least to me. :) Here is a comparison of the two cars. Mine has the spoiler, and their's does not, which is also a personal preference.

I meant your clear corners. DId you use vinyl to cover the amber reflectors?

ensteele

I used silver duct tape which hides the yellow or orange reflectors. Next best thing to JDM Clear corners. :D

No. I just love the thought of you having to do extra work!:D... Actually I'll suffice with a car wash..

Biggest thing I noticed with the white deck lid is that it makes the whole car seem shorter and taller. A lot more compact. Must be sweet to have no dings or waves in the body panels! Nice!

I think it looks more modern with just the black roof. Almost convertibleish styling. :)

damn, looks great. 1 think I like about the pearl
is how it looks like a Mother of Pearl color in different
lightings.
The all one color was a nice call.
(hey, of course, I did it to my pewter car :) )

I like the car, but I keep looking at the tires (red walls). They tend to distract from the car. I do like the pewter color. :)

more so the thread is about your car and I really
like how yours turned out.
Need a matching leather interior ??? :) LOL

My rims are actually Red around the lips.
Its bolts on and I can remove them if I want,
chrome them or even repaint them any color I want.
Its a totally new look, but being in the business alot
of people (mostly locally) look at what I do to get ideas
for their cars. Its weird but its true.....But it helps sell
more parts and thats part of the biz.
The look is growing on me, gots to set the trenzzzzz !!:D

Well, my boyz saw those wheels and Dayle's car and I'll give you this, you nailed the trenzzz, those teenagers loved that car with those wheels.

I didn't get to see the car up close, but now that I see it, it is very interesting. I know that you need to experiment. The look does grow on you. :)

The wheels and paint on Dayle's car are close in color, so the colored rings and tinted windows break the monotone and add some serious character. The drops springs and spoilers complete the look.

Three of my boys saw Dayle's car in Reno, they were very impressed. They wanted the seat covers as well, one of them is still talking about those seats.

Earl, we really wanted to see one of your rides in Reno, sorry you couldn't be there. Guess we will have to go north one day.

I didn't pick up on the fact that your car was painted as Dayle's, the lid the same as the car. Dayle's car is custom, so any look that is different is easy to adjust to. Your paint and wheels are stock, so I would say that I would have to live with your car for a while before I could say how I feel about the paint scheme. WANT TO LOAN YOUR CAR TO ME FOR SIX MONTHS?!

Looks like a first class job. I'm sure you love it, and it contrasts your other cars.

That's a really nice colour Dayle. I assume it is not standard SVX colour?

As for the wheels, not so much bling, as don't b'long. :D

Can see how kids might like them, but too "Race me!" for me. Also, they must be bigger diameter than stock. The rear disks[rotors] look like washers with all that space around them. Negates the butch effect a bit, almost as bad as the ricers that put fake rotors over their rear drum brakes for effect.

Superb paint job though, whoever does your spraying.

Joe:)
