Haiya,
seems everybody is enjoying its SVX and so there is so sleepy.
Here is thread just for your smile (as I am LOL):-)
As you probably know about my engine problems and my effort to get the best prices on needed parts I got on next level. Local Autocar magazine (mutation of the UK one) is preparing article about differences in car and parts pricing across EU. So I sent them email with my story and what happend, they published it without letting me know. I was little surprised when couple of my friends called me laughing. I stay behind my opinions I have sent them but there was some hyperbole (I accused local Subaru repre for their price policy and stated that I do not buy even oil filter for such a thumping price strategy). CEO of Subaru Czech right away called to my dealer saying what the hell I am doing writing such a things to the most popular magazine in Czech. Local dealer stays behind me saying him it is realy too much if there is over 50% difference between prices from Germany and Czech Rep. I do not mention average salary in both countries which is more than huge. Just to mention, Subaru Czech is de facto Emil Frey branch, which belongs to biggest Subaru dealers in continental Europe. It means they definitely have at least same prices like small dealer in Munich:-). VAT is 3% lower in Germany.
They promised lower prices from 1.6. so I will see. It is too funny for me but it is quite common here that "poor" people are willing to buy more expensive goods than rich ones.
For me it means that one can force such a company to make changes and at least think about what they are doing good or bad. Definitely I will have hard live with any claims on my Impreza which is still in warranty and I will have claims definitely...:-)

Hi Tony, no problem, I can send it in English as well:-)))
I am really pissed off you know I spent over 35k EUR for my cars and they treat me like a scabby dog:-)). I will wait for 1st of June and if they do not decrease their pricing I will write to their boss to Mr. Frey to Swiss:-)) I did not mention, as I emailed with Markus/Kusi it is even cheaper in Swiss than in Czech Republic. I will try to get some email to Subaru Japan, it is my goal:-)

Good work, Peter:D

Don't also forget, it would be a very good move to send details on all those price differences to the EU, specifically to the Competition Authority.

These guys are trying to get equal prices across Europe, and stories like yours are good places for them to go headhunting.

Keep up the good work man.

Joe;) :D

PS Send them the magazine article also!

OK, Peter, I'll bite.

Are we tilting at windmills of the electronic variety?

Or are you suggesting we are shortsighted and altruistic?

Among other traits?;)

So many new words for me:-)
I think if one owe and love this car and is trying to get it or keep it in good shape is half fool. Fighting with all problems sometimes really evocate me Don Quijote, especially fighting with local Subaru repre:-). And solution is simple, sell it out and never look back:-) But who can do it? :-)
Yes, we are shortsighted = spending a lot of money for piece of metal, rubber, glass and leather and still has some problem:-) (words of my wife).
And yes, we are definitely altrustics:-)
These are mine opinions:-)

Fools is probably the nearest description and the simple truth.

Do not, however, trust the wisdom of your wife on the subject of automobiles.

Most wives think that all cars should be cheap to buy, cheap to run, easy to drive, easy to park, easy to insure, not attractive to thieves, and should run for a week, maybe two weeks, on the smell of petrol off an oily rag.

Oh, and they should have room enough inside for all the kids and all the shopping, and should not in theory be able to go fast enough to ever scare you.

This straight away puts Ferraris and SVXs and Porsches and TVRs off the shopping list.

We men on the other hand realise that any shopping list that excludes such worthwhile cars has seriously, seriously flawed logic behind it.;) :D

The trick is to find a wife who also loves fast cars. :p

Good work Peter. You are a champion for those of us who love our cars more than our money.

Phil.

I would rather did not win this prize :-))))
It seems to me I spend more money on my car than on my wife:-)) but it is better for me to not check it out exactly.

So another news, yesterday, I have sent email to director of Subaru Czech, saying thank you for your price drop and also attached table with comparison German and Czech prices where is still 30% difference aprox. Clear response, "Don not ask me why, ask another car magazine...". Quite arrogant and seems it moves to personal level which convinced me to stop any other communication about this case. It is sad, that thay present at their local web pages focus on customer relation and maximal customer support which does not exist in fact. I just only needed their help with comparable price for car not produced 7 years as they are buying in Germany as well.
They lost at least one customer, but do not care at all. I think I did quite a lot but do not want to continue on personal level. Hope someone else here in Czech Rep. will open this case to them soon.
Peter
