Hi, new thread again :-)
Yesterday, I was at my dealership to consult cost of demage caused by accident. As we were talking my serviceman noticed that my windshield has some stone cracks (I never noticed that) and should be replaced. As I think this car is really crused I sign up really good insurance (which cover also windshiled demage) half an year before. So we checked price and....they will charge insurance company for 1750USD. Unbelivable!!!!!!!!!
Same cost as tranny rebuild. I am still shocked....

-Chheeez....

If that price is relevant here too, it's around 1300 EURO ....damn..

And MY insurance demands me to pay 20% of the cost myself

I thought that they cover some maximum price so called them to check. I was told no restrictions but I think they will denounce my insurance contract :-)) after paying this awful amount.

Hi Peter,

The same thing happened to us a few years ago. There was a stone chip which spread into a crack all across the windscreen.

Cost of replacement was 800 UK pounds, but the insurance company paid without any problems. (Insurance costs 800 each year, but it is worth it if you need a windscreen!).

Wow.

How can they manage to repair cars like ours with such low premiums? I can't think of a single SVX part you could buy with that money.

Phil.

:-) yes, I do not underestand their policy too, but maybe they made calculations on average czech car which is 12yrs old Skoda, which windshields are as mass production very cheap. Think couple of SVXs or other Japan cars with "gold windshields" such a Mazda Xedos (its windshield costs 300 bucks less) could ruin them :-)))).We will see some changes after merging EU 1st of May:-(
