I have just put on a set of Sava tyres this weekend.

Unfortunately, they are not the ones I have been using for over three years, Rapidex. This [non-directional] pattern is no longer available in our size.

Instead, it is a new directional pattern called Intensa. The price was the same E110 fitted and balanced, so no complaints on that front.

They are not yet scrubbed in, so no chance to check them for grip, but they feel really stable. More importantly, they appear to be very quiet, and have a comfortable ride, factors I put high on the list.

If they are as good as the old ones for wet grip and braking, I will be very happy.

Peter [Nobody], take note, as you may find the old pattern unavailable. Let you know how they are dynamically when bedded in.

Hey man:-), I have ordered them (Intensa) two weeks ago and I am happy that it is the right choice. Here they are 50% cheaper than top brands (Good Year, Continental, etc.). I spoke with my tire guy and he recommended them (my SVX is a cruiser not street killer). The only thing I am missing is protection of wheel (rubber border protects wheel against demage caused by parking too close to kerb stones)....
I will put it on within two weeks(heavy snowfalls here so I rent garage instead of buying winter tires :-))) so my feelings will follow...

I put a set of directional Hankook Ventus recently. A bit firmer and slightly noisier than the Michelins I had on, but grip much improved. They were Ģ58 each off an internet company. So far, so good!

Hi Tony, Gbox fixed?

Well, these Intensas must have very low rolling resistance. They are even quieter than the last ones. It's a bit like rolling on velvet or down a snooker table.

So much so, that now I am hearing muffled suspension noises I didn't hear before:eek:

Progress, eh?

Hi there. Gearbox is fixed, but still not back in the car. I was due to collect tomorrow, but there was a phone message when I got home to call the garage as soon as possible.....I wait with bated breath at the prospect of an emptier wallet and yet longer to wait before I'm mobile again!!!

I know that feeling Tony, same with my gbox, they increased total price for 30%...
Now I have problems with my Impreza MY 2002. It takes 1 litre of oil for every 5k kms but no visible leaks, smoke etc. It has only 40k kms on it. Also gbox seems to be not 100% ok (I have been complaining about it from the time it was new) and shifting is very hard and rough, bad synchrons on 2nd...
So I am strongly disccusing it with my dealer cause it is still in warranty...
Damn cars :-)
Take care, Peter

Hi Peter, Those of us across the pond would like to see some pictures if you would. Even if you use film and scan them in or get pix on a cd and put them in your locker. I'm glad to see your getting your SVX set up the way you want it. Take care, BOBB

Yes Peter, glad you got your wheels and tyres sorted.

I am well pleased with my Sava Intensas. They are really really quiet and smooth riding, suit the car exceptionally well.

They also seem to grip very well, and I have had them up to highish speeds in the wet, they feel rock solid. At the price, you could not ask for more.

Have had my wheel rims trued up and straightened and balanced, but not repainted. The driveability is much improved. I am getting a friend who is an expert spray painter to respray the rims, but only when I find the right paint code. That's why I would not let the tyre place redo them. These guys think any silver paint will do, and I am not a fan of the bright silver on some cars. I want the original grey metallic, and nothing less will do.

Did yours come back the same colour as original?

Hi Joe, it was also my dilema, how find right color.
I was lucky because my dealer gave me (he really gave them to me free of charge!) NEW all four center caps originaly packed. As I have friend who has dealership for Audi and VW and has very good experiencies with repairing and painting alloy wheels I let him work on them. As a color reference they used the new center cap. It looks like really really good, wheels are balanced and looks like brand new! My SVX is in Burgundy color (personaly I do not like this color very much) but with new painted wheels it looks like much more attractive.
We have a lot of rain here so when sun will appear I will take some pictures and post them here.
I was charged aprox. 50USD per wheel (complete rapair and repaint)
As for tires I have them one day so have not time to test them yet. First feeling is very good.

Very good Peter. I do not have new caps for reference.

Could you post a picture of the newly painte wheels?

Also, maybe you could ask your Audi paint guy what paint mix he used, if there is a code?

Hi Joe, as I supposed, tires are good, quiet but I can not say this about my rear bearings...
They are knocking on heavenīs door :-)
They are not too noisy so I will wait replacing them together with shocks I plan to buy during my visit in states this summer.
I would rather place fire extinguisher in my trunk :-)))

So spending 2000kms on them I can really declare, it is the best choice for this price. Very very quiet (I am afraid not my left rear bearing - it was hit in accident and is getting more and more noisy), perfect in watter. Taste them! For me, 4 stars from 5
