does anybody know who i can talk to in OZ about the svx E-4AT trans, as it appears to have issues. it has been performing well but has thumped heavily when moving off today several times and has now started to lose drive in 2nd, but mainly in 3rd & 4th, also shudders heavily when pulling up to a stop. i'm in the trade but due to illness in the family, don't have time to get to involved with a rebuild at this time. A&B Autos in Melbourne were suppling exchange autos to Subaru, but does anybody know of any other trans repairers who know what they're about preferably in Qld. i know the high clutch etc. has probably failed. any suggestions would be appreciated

hey spock

what's happening to your tranny is exactly what happened to my svx the first time i lost a box, ended up melting the sun gear. it might be easier and more cost effective to just replace it with a second hand box or convert it to a manual 5 speed like me.

Sounds like 'new transmision time to me'. Same old same old problem. Just read the posts elsewhere on this site about transmissions. My father had to change his ('92)- I on the other hand am lucky enough to own a '95, which has not given any trouble. Good luck. Cheers, Mark.:(

Yep, sorry to say that I concur

:(

Depends on what you want to do - my preference was always that if it did went, I was getting it sent to A&B - they take your transmission and give you one that was overhauled/rebuilt and then do yours which they give to the next person who comes - minimised downtime....this was, however, when the SVX was still for sale and people were not to happy with their $75,000/$80,000 car having a gearbox fail at 50 - 70,000km

What year is yours and how many k's has it done? Do you know anything about its previous history before you bought it?

Cheers

James
