Not sure about Australian models but late JDM models came with different colour glass depending on body colour.

JDM bright green mica models (and red) have bronze glass, while silver models have blue glass.

New driver's window is Y17,000 (AU$220) for blue glass and Y26,500 (AU$340) for bronze glass.

G'Day Paddles,
What sort of prices can you find there for a TPS, either new or second hand?
Can anyone there give clues on alternate TPS's from other cars?
I know that most of the Impreza models don't fit the SVX.
I'm finding that the TPS can be the Achilles-Heel for the SVX.
What sort of postal prices do you pay in Japan?
Arthur.

I think ours are bronze but since mine is tinted aftermarket, I will have to check a non-tinted one (there should be one on the cruise coming up)

I know that front windshields cost a fortune though and Martin Frosh, when his went, was asked about what tint it was when they took the order...and $2000AU of his money!

New TPS is Y6000 (AU$76).

I checked the Subaru Parts Database and the part no. for the SVX TPS is only for the SVX.

In the Auto store today the guy there said that the only product that he knew about that would take the scratch out was Jewellers Rouge. He thought that most glass specialists would stock it.

Ken yes i spoke to Windscreens O'Brien they suggested jewelers rouge as well, I went and saw one of their franchises as they suggested ...next door to pavillion motors !!, BUT he wasn't prepared to have a go at it...'doing it will scratch the window more..!!??? :I had some old mag wheel polish that contains jewelers rouge, but didn't get much of a result after 15 mins and 3 applications and elbow grease..damm ( ..hmm, so then I thought I'll put a 2nd hand window in, the Adelaide wreckers have got one BUT, when I asked what colour the glass was and its condition..he said for what you want 'you should buy a new window'..'the one i've got fits in the gap in the door and it won't let the rain in..

Fine ! I'll check with the dealer when she goes in for her 50K/100K service [2 days min], next Wed to see how much they price a new window, then compare that to Paddles price ex japan. [incidently my tint is blue]..I've got the dealer already organised to do all the window guides anyway and having the window polished wouuld have finished the job nicely...but no yet, I might try one of the smaller auto glass people for polishing out, and I was also toying with the idea of changing the passenger door mirror to the concave glass style..I'll keep you posted.. :(

paddlesnz,

Howdy, new member Timbo here from Perth. Glad to finally be able to join in network. Note that Arthur and I are having same problem sourcing reasonable priced TPS in Oz and you seem to have been able to solve problem (well, for me anyway - wouldn't be so rude as to speak for Arthur!). Never having done this before I don't know protocols but is there some way we can source these bits by mail (even if it means there's a little $omething in it for you)?

Am setting out to restore my black/pearl white 1995 model and the only other part I may need to procure is bonnet badge (probably adorning some scumbag's belt buckle now); everything else is intact. Upgrades of brakes, exhaust and repaint is probably extent needed.

Look forward to hearing back from you and any other members with hints, news etc.

Regards to all.

G'Day Paddles, getting a few days behind in my messages:D
Hey, Hi to Timbo from a fellow (ex)Sandgrouper
As Timbo says Paddles, I'm sure we can do something to encourage you, a little folding maybe ;)
Would you like that in local ¥?, or can you change our folding over there?
I don't know if I can change notes here without an airline ticket
Any ideas on Nippon post costs?
There could be a few others with cars in the 300k km range that could do with one of these, any takers?
Timbo, are you aware that there are a couple of choices of hood badge!
Arthur.

Hi Arthur, have you had a look at a throttle position sensor off a Nissian, Toyota, Mitsu or some other fuel injected car?

They are a universal type bit, just need one from the left hand end of the throttle shaft. The other Subaru cars have it on the right hand end.

Harvey. ;)
