It will never be the same as that galant thread that died just a few weeks short of it's first birthday, but we can still have fun.

And if you don't care for this sort of thing, well it is pretty easy to steer clear of it, it is just one little thread. ;)

Hmmmmm You're right, the old hijack thread often had SVX stuff in it. Quite the fermented cucumber..... hmmmmmm

I know! We can have the moderators monitor this thread and move it back and forth between forums as the content changes! :D

I think I lost a couple hundred...that thread was the home of the first argument between Doug and me concerning which of us loved Google more.

...an argument I won, by the way...

...because I love Google more than Doug any day of the week.

What kind of car?
Well its’ an SVX.
What’s that a Porsche?
No it’s a Ferrari.
Yeah. See the windows?
Yup
That makes it a Ferrari.
Oh.
It’s got Quad turbos too.
No way!
Yes one for each pair pistons,
double acting pistons.
An eight?
Yes but not just any eight.
It’s an inverted flat eight.
Lots of torque.
Really?
Yup 690 foot-pounds
Or is that pound feet?
I don’t know.
Me neither.
What are these stars for?
That’s the emblem from the secret Ferrari plant.
Gee that’s cool.
How fast is it?
Over 300 mph.
You drive that?
Yup everyday to work.
You get tickets?
Just from the cleaners.
No not that kind of ticket.
I meant speeding tickets.
Or those yeah I got one for 27 in a 25.
I got off cause the officer was drunk.
What’s that?
That duct work?
Yeah
Oh that takes the cold air from the AC
And dumps it into the turbo.
Why?
Extra 100 hp when it’s on.
Oh no
Yup
Faster?
Yup
400
Gets me to work in 10 minutes.

Yup
400
Gets me to work in 10 minutes.
Wow cool.
Yup it’s a “special car”
Gets 50 MPG.
No way
Oh yes
It has special regenerative turbine wheels.
Stores energy from the passing slip stream
of the induced boundary layer
between the tire and the road.
That sounds advanced.
Yeah Rob it is.
No BS here to worry about.
It also has a cryogenic brake cooling system.
The car stops from 500 to 0 in 30 seconds.
Oh come on that’s BS.
Oh yeah you caught me.
31 seconds.
Yeah that’s better.
The only problem is the gas.
Gas what do you mean?
The cryogenic gas or liquid is LNG.
What’s LNG?
Liquid Natural Gas
It’s colder than ICE.
So that’s good for brakes?
Yeah But bad when the lines break
And the rotors are hot.
Leaves a huge flame behind the car.

I was one of the few that actually read all 4000 or whatever posts in the old one. Only because I happened to see it the first day and just stick with it every day. It would be impossible to try to read it all if you came in even a couple weeks late.

I also lost a ton of post count in the tragedy, I think I was #2 top poster in that thread. :(

Of course the last several months I haven't really cared about post count, it's all about quality, not quantity! :D

Guess what happened? It fell over and broke the very next day.

She put it back together with Elmer's Glue. It looks like it was broken and then put back together with Elmer's Glue.

How can I get rid of it without anyone noticing?

Maybe she put a lil too much Elmers on it and glued it to the shelf. If you really wanna make it disappear you can break a window and say someone broke in and stole it. You can also say the person felt bad so they left you a 2nd SVX in the driveway ;)

Yes.. I'd had a bit of the vine that night... I had just received my application to join AARP...

I'm a lonely, 50 year old, single white athiest male living in Salt Lake City Utah.... and for some strange reason some young turk decided to push my buttons!! So... I got pissed and took my ball and went to bed. ..

I'm a little upset at my actions... (and maybe even a little embarrassed) However, what's done is done... and if post counts matter over substance... then we are all in trouble.

No problems Mitch. I already have my AARP card if it makes you feel any better. :D And, I'm only 48! The benefits of marrying an older woman. :D Post count don't matter. Maybe I'll go back and delete all the threads I started.

Is it not said that it's not the size of your posts but the quality of it that matters?

Just sucks to see your posts get smaller as you get older. :p

WestCoastSVX

It's okay Mitch, we forgive you! Unfortunately, the action probably wasn't even noticed by any of the deviants that got you worked up, because none of them ever cared for or even saw the Hijack thread. But I guess the gesture made all of us notice your "departure" more. ;)

If it makes you feel better, all of us in the Northwest still love you, even if you are 50! :D I even sent you an invite to join our secret NW SVX club, I figure Salt Lake is relatively close to the Northwest, plus you used to live in Seattle, right? :) Kinda a kindred spirit or something. Plus I'm sure there are a lot more single atheist women in Seattle than SLC, so you need to come out for some fun. ;)

Q: How do you make a Neon go faster?
A: A towtruck.

Q: What do you call the shock absorbers inside a Neon?
A: Passengers.

Two guys in a Neon were arrested last night in Oakland following a push-by shooting incident.

The new Neon has an air bag. When you sense an impending accident, start pumping real fast.

A friend went to a dealer the other day and said, "I'd like a gas cap for my Neon." The dealer replied, "Okay. Sounds like a fair trade."

Q: How can you get a Neon to do 60 miles an hour?
A: Push it over a cliff.

You are so special, so true, so bold,
another, I could not bare to hold.
You're always there, waiting for me,
if only they, could but see.

They think they know me, better than you,
the things they say, could they be true?
It's such a shame, they hate you so,
you know this means, you gave to go.

This will hurt me, far more than you,
sometimes it's hard, what a man must do.
As I write, my face grows pale,

Serious question for a second:

Is there any harm in putting too much oil in the car? (I think I might have a little over 7 quarts in there)

Would having too much oil cause the "Check Engine" light to come on and stay on. I've never had the CE light stay on for 3 straight hours and come right on every time I restart the car. It came on a few miles after the oil change. :(

Click and Clack say:

Tom: But too much oil can be bad, too. If the oil level gets high enough so that it touches the crankshaft, the oil will get whipped into a foam, kind of like the filling in a lemon meringue pie.

Ray: And the big problem with foamy oil is that the oil pump can't pump it. It's like sucking on a straw after you've finished a drink. What you get is mostly air. And air doesn't lubricate engines.

So yes, too much oil is a bad thing. You can do damage to your engine.

Well, I'm making my announcement here, in this thread-

I have decided to pursue an SVX this spring when I get rid of my Dodge Avenger. I know I've come here asking about other cars, but the SVX is the only one I seem to come back to. So-hopefully when this thread hits 1 year old, I will be the proud owner of a SVX.....

From our friends, Click and Clack. :D

Dear Tom and Ray:

Each time I had my car's oil changed at the dealership, the dipstick showed that the oil level was a quarter of an inch to almost an inch above the "full" level. According to the owner's manual, over-filling could damage the engine. I called this to the mechanic's attention several times, and each time he insisted that the amount he put in was correct. He also claimed the extra oil would cause no damage. Finally, he checked his oil-dispensing gauge and found that - guess what? - it was not accurate, aft er all. He then proceeded to correct it. I still want to know if that previous overfilling could have caused any damage. - Will

TOM: It's unlikely, Will. It's true that overfilling the crankcase with oil can damage the engine. But in the vast majority of cars, you won't do any damage in the quantities we're talking about here.

RAY: A quarter of an inch on most dipsticks equals a quarter of a quart. And adding an extra quarter of a quart, or even half a quart, won't hurt anything.

TOM: When you overfill the crankcase by a quart or more, then you risk "foaming" the oil. If the oil level gets high enough, the spinning crankshaft can whip the oil up into a froth, like the stuff that sits on top of your cappuccino. And the problem with that is that the oil pump can't pump froth.

RAY: It's like trying to drink from a straw when there's not much left in the glass - what you get is mostly air. And air can't lubricate your engine.

TOM: Now, there are some cars that are more sensitive to overfilling than others. Volkswagens with four-cylinder engines come to mind. And if you had one of those, and the mechanic overfilled it by half a quart, I'd tell you to have him drain the oil and refill it more precisely. But unless your owner's manual specifically warns you - in dire language - not to overfill the oil, I wouldn't worry about it unless it's approaching a quart over.

RAY: And by the way, your dealership should be giving you free oil changes for life. If you led it to discover that it was giving away an extra quarter of a quart of oil with every oil change, think of all the money you're now saving the dealership on oil!

What kind of car?
Well its’ an SVX.
What’s that a Porsche?
No it’s a Ferrari.
Yeah. See the windows?
Yup
That makes it a Ferrari.
Oh.
It’s got Quad turbos too.
No way!
Yes one for each pair pistons,
double acting pistons.
An eight?
Yes but not just any eight.
It’s an inverted flat eight.
Lots of torque.
Really?
Yup 690 foot-pounds
Or is that pound feet?
I don’t know.
Me neither.
What are these stars for?
That’s the emblem from the secret Ferrari plant.
Gee that’s cool.
How fast is it?
Over 300 mph.
You drive that?
Yup everyday to work.
You get tickets?
Just from the cleaners.
No not that kind of ticket.
I meant speeding tickets.
Or those yeah I got one for 27 in a 25.
I got off cause the officer was drunk.
What’s that?
That duct work?
Yeah
Oh that takes the cold air from the AC
And dumps it into the turbo.
Why?
Extra 100 hp when it’s on.
Oh no
Yup
Faster?
Yup
400
Gets me to work in 10 minutes.
Wow cool.
Yup it’s a “special car”
Gets 50 MPG.
No way
Oh yes
It has special regenerative turbine wheels.
Stores energy from the passing slip stream
of the induced boundary layer
between the tire and the road.
That sounds advanced.
Yeah Rob it is.
No BS here to worry about.
It also has a cryogenic brake cooling system.
The car stops from 500 to 0 in 30 seconds.
Oh come on that’s BS.
Oh yeah you caught me.
31 seconds.
Yeah that’s better.
The only problem is the gas.
Gas what do you mean?
The cryogenic gas or liquid is LNG.
What’s LNG?
Liquid Natural Gas
It’s colder than ICE.
So that’s good for brakes?
Yeah But bad when the lines break
And the rotors are hot.
Leaves a huge flame behind the car.
Sometimes that is good if tail gater’s there.
Other times the leaves in gutter start burning.
Depend on where you are when cooling system kicks in.
Oh yeah I can see how that would be dangerous.
Is it hard to work on this Ferrari?
Nope. I do myself.
Do the parts cost a lot?
Nope. I get a discount form the dealer.
Wow that sounds like a really good deal.
Yeah it’s pretty good.
Well I wish I could buy one of these.
Really?
You would really like to buy one of THESE?
Yeah.
Wellllll It’s your lucky day.
I got an extra one in the back.
Do you want to see it?
Sure!!!!!
Okay come around here.
It’s in the garage.
I’ll get the door.
Here it is.
I don’t know what to say.
It’s well, it’s a really strange color.
What color is that?
It’s a special paint job.
Absorbs all known beams from radar guns.
The front of the car is black. See that?
Yeah
Then the silver blends into a silver over the hood.
Yeah
Then the silver on the sides blends red.
Yeah
At the bottom it blends the red to black.
Yeah
That’s for dirt. The paint isn’t special.
Well anyway it blends to white at the back.
This ones has a few different features.
I’ll say I looks about 8” higher. What’s up with that.
Special air suspension with high adjustment.
Adjust automatically to road roughness.
Wow how does it do that?
Laser. Mounted on the bottom of the frame.
Connected to a computer.
It looks for road objects and raises the car before it hits.
Works good up to 120 mph.
After that there’s a problem.
What’s that?
Well the system reacts a little too fast.
Up to about 120 it’s great.
It picks the body up and miss a muffler laying in the road.
Above 120 the car leaves the road.
It gets airborne for about 30 seconds and is about 12” off the road.
Once you hit about 200 you have to start watching for bridges.
Are you sure you would really like to buy this car?
It could be dangerous.
Oh yeah I really want this car.
But can I afford it?
Well I think so this old.
It’s a 92 LS-L-GC-RBA-Q4T-ETG-LOJ-YTU-MNB-YT-KL-ER
Lots of options
But Like I said it old.
It’s got about 15,123.4 miles on it.
I got all the service records for it.
It still has the original factory warrantee for 1,000,000 or 100 years
Which ever comes first.
And also unlimited helicopter road side assistance.
New tires
New brakes
New rotors
Spare set of tires, mounted
Live in mechanic
Oh wow I can never afford all of that.
Well it’s old.
I’ll sell it to you for 2,500 dollars.
Well I am not sure.
Okay $2,000.
Well it’s not the money.
I think it’s a great car for the money.
Well what’s the problem?
I don’t know how to drive a stick.
What? Is that all?
This car is a 6 speed hydroponics organic transmission.
HOT for short.
It’s got no clutch
Does not care what gear you put it in
Adjusts automatically to whatever speed it thinks you want to go.
It is a very easy car to drive.
Here how about you drive?
OKAY!
Slide on in here.
Put the key in but do not turn it yet.
It has a special alarm system.
You have to follow this in the correct sequence or it will not start.
After you put the key push the blinker stalk down and
rotate the interior dimmer all the way down.
Advance the key one to acc
Raise the sunroof a 1 inch.
Advance the key to on
Adjust the right mirror all the way left and up
Now start it.
Nothing?
Oh man.
Maybe its’ the dimmer switch all way up.
No wait it the sunroof.
Here you have to set that one inch height with digital vernier calipher.
Okay try it now.
Nothing?
Well it’s running. Look at the tachometer.
Wow 800 rpm.
Pretty quiet? Yes?

I bought a Sega Dreamcast in August to take to school with me. I have an emulator so I can play NES, Neo Geo, SNES, and Genesis ROMs downloaded from off the net. I even have an emulator for Atari 2600, Commodore 64, and Apple II games. If Kazaaworked on campus I'd be able to download DC games as well.

a dolphin is a mammal. it gives birth to live young, and it has hair, breathes air and every other thing that a human does...

so it is a mammal, acutally a cetation....i think that is the spelling...anyways...hrm...

it isn't a fish and a killer whale isn't a whale, it is a porpoise

Whoah! Look at the big brain on Kelli! :D

I'm not sure I read any part of Alan's message to mean that he was calling a Dolphin a fish though, he was just saying now there is a new version call Ecco the Fish. :D

I know, you were just throwin' down some of your mad knowledge skillz! :p
