I was looking through the May issue of American Rodders magazine, and it had an article on a secondary oil filtration system through an outfit called Superior Filtration Systems in Jacksonville, FL. I tried contacting the company and haven't gotten through to them, but the principle sounds interesting: filtration of really small particles from a lower flow line. The article makes it pout to be quite the panacea, with oil being cleaned to better than its out of the bottle condition and oil changes not needed for around 100k miles. Unfortunately, I can't find any supporting data for it.

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of system, and what do you know about it?

Yes, amsoil also has a similar system, and I have heard they work well. They are very expensive though. You would have to do a lot of oil changes to make it pay off.
