This was sent to me by email from the japan Direct Import Service. It is the catalog of accessories for the japanese home market SVX. It is in my briefcase at http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess?d&.intl=us&.flabel=fld19&.src=ph&start=1&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess%3fc%26.flabel=fld19%26.intl=us

I think the American models are a hoot (and so are the floor mats) There are some interesting things in the catalog that I would like more information on. There is something on page 7, items 16 and 17 which I will try to get a translation on. But they offered ski racks, surfboard racks, and other intriguing stuff.

The wheel cover centers say SVX. I wonder if the center caps for the alloy wheels say SVX as well.

I asked him to send me the actual catalog and I think he is agreeable to it. Anyway ENJOY!

I have the floor mat set!!! Very nice they are, too.

These are the accessories that are available from Subaru dealers in Japan. However Subaru no longer manufacture them, so some of the popular ones, like the rear spoiler are sold out.

Item 16 is an air cleaner, designed especially for Japanese who are heavy smokers.

Item 17 is a solar meter (?). Not quite sure what it's purpose is.

I wish our cars came with the climate contol controls like on the Japanese version. I think it is much nicer.

Just in case anyone thinks I have bad taste, the floor mats were the first thing I replaced after I bought my car.

Damn! And here I was thinking I would be first with the "scoop" on the catalogue mounted on a site and SVXcess beats me to it! Ah well, be a bit longer before I release my website to the world!!

I am keen to get some of the SVX stickers as well if they are still around/available! *big pleading smile/grin at paddlesnz*

I would be interested in some of those decals if they were available. If not I might look into having some made.

Went to my local Subaru dealer today to enquire about the availabilty of the accessories. He said that as the SVX was not a big seller here especially in later years, only a very limited amount of accessories were ever made, and most have sold out. However, he is going to check with Subaru Head Office and get back to me in a couple of days.

Here are the availability details of the Japanese SVX accessories.

Items 1, 7, 19 and 20 are definitely sold out.

Items 3, 4 ,5, 13 and 15 are in stock at Subaru HO but very limited quantities.

Items 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 are shown on the parts database as available (soemwhere in Japan) but not in stock at Subaru HO. Quantities are probably very limited.

Availability of items 16, 17, and 18 is unknown at this stage, dealer said would take some time to confirm.

Price of the each item is shown in the first column of the catalog, second column is the fitting fee and the third column is the total of first and second columns.

This is the latest information I got from Subaru Japan/Japan Direct Import Service:

" Cabin Air Cleaner: Catalogue says that this cleaner works by the electrical power of car battery.

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12960&stc=1&d=1256660816

......P/N G3015PA000 ...It is 43,900JPY or $481.77 US

Cabin Air Cleaner circulates air in the cabin by electrical power of car battery, and cleans dust and the stench through a filter in it. This cleaner is controlled by a switch that is installed around driver's seat. it starts working for 5 minutes with Hi-mode linking with the air conditioner; then it is changed to Low-mode automatically. Manual for the installation is also attached in the box, and we heard from Subaru that you can install it easily. (I will translate the manual if you purchase.)

Solar Cleaner: Catalogue says that a fan of this cleaner works by "solar electrical power", and removes stinks of the cabin. After that, good and light smell of jasmine remains. You should think this equipment as an aromatic. Actually, this equipment has a solar battery in it, and a fan works without any sources of power. But it works only for an aromatic, and doesn't work for the cleaning of air in the cabin. Also, liquid in it has to be purchase once it runs short. You can install this anywhere you prefer because this equipment is fixed by a double-side tape."

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12961&stc=1&d=1256660927

......P/N K0072YA000 ...It is 5500JPY or $60.36 US.

I have a local vender who is just starting out and said if I can get him a copy of the decal then he could make it up cheep for us.
Does someone have a good pic of it? I will take it to him and then see what he would charge.

Sorry, but this is the only photo I know of. Perhaps someone else has one that's clearer.

I spoke to the shop down the street and he siad it would be no problem to make it.
I will take him the pic and see what he comes up with, or we can come up with a new design? He is a small shop and will do it at a cheep price. Also he would not charge to make the design.
I personaly would like to have it make in a reflective black.
He is also doing a solid reflective silver stip across my front windshield with Subaru cut out, and SVX across the fin in the same reflective silver.
Should look awsome!

As the designer, I have all the original art on disk. I recently redid it from SUBARU SVX CLUB to SVX OWNERS NETWORK with the new website on the bottom. See my briefcase for the new version: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess?d&.flabel=fld7&.src=ph There is also one with the SVX logo in red. Let me have opinions please

Pine Decals, who printed the first ones on static cling vinyl, will give me an excellent price on the new batch for the following reasons:

1. I am a repeat customer
2. Because of some that were mis-registered in the first batch, I sent them back and received full credit towards my next order.

3. They already have the silver plate screen made, as this is not changing.

Most of the club members like the static cling vinyl. On our initial order of 500, the decal was only a buck apiece.
On the new reprint, it will be less. If I add the third color, the price will stay at $1.00

Any questions, email me at jhoffman@neors.cat.cc.md.us

John, I believe he was talking about the decal from the Japanese catalogue, that goes on the car, just in front of the back fender well. Check the link to the pic I sent him.

I have a larger version in my Prototype catalog "SVX as an Active Safety Vehicle" Since I already have the SVX artwork it would be a piece of cake to recreate it in Illustrator.

A better photo is: No. 2. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess?e&.intl=us&.flabel=fld19&start=1&.pindex=3&.src=ph&.from=d&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess%3fd%26.flabel=fld19%26.intl=us%26.src=ph

It says under the logo:
"Horizontally Opposed 6Cyl. Engine
3.3 litre DOHC 4Cam 24 Valve"

Too much wording for me, but I'll create it for you. By the way, although I am not an automotive engineer, how can you have a dual overhead cam (DOHC) and 4 cam in the same engine. Look at the photo, it clearly says that.
I'll start work on it anyway.

Is your vendor going to use high-performance automotive vinyl for this project?

<<how can you have a dual overhead cam (DOHC) and 4 cam in the same engine.>>

Only two of the four cams are "Overhead." The other two are . . . uh . . . "underhead."

i personally think that's way too much wording....'tacky' IMO.

Here's my understanding of the DOHC setup. Atop the cylinder head assemblies on each side of the engine are two camshafts. Each camshaft controls two valves on each of the three cylinders on that side of the engine. Thus, we've got a total of 4 camshafts (2 on each side of the engine), and each head has dual overhead cams.

I looked at my other catalogs and the sticker looks like this. I am not sure what the actual sticker size is, but the scale and wording are correct. Porsche wouldn't do something like this- aren't we as sophisticated? This design just isn't my taste... grates on my nerves worse that a pair of wheel bearings going bad.

Anyway. Check it out at: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess?e&.intl=us&.flabel=fld20&.from=d&.pindex=1&start=1&.src=ph&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/svxcess%3fd%26.flabel=fld20%26.intl=us%26.src=ph

We don't have to get a sticker made saying all that? We can get whatever we want on it. I for one would like to put something different. Maybe something like AWD with the "All Wheel Drive" underneath it, or something along those lines. Being in NJ when I have my care inspected they do a wheel test. The test is not designed for AWD vehicles and would just rip the trans apart. This would inform them that it is an AWD vehicle and leave the car looking clea, not tacky.

Subaru already has some very tasteful AWD (with All Wheel Drive under it) trim stickers. As a matter of fact someone has some in his rear windows. Can't remember who it is. Check you local dealer and see what he's got. Go to the dealer and look at the Outbacks, Foresters and Imprezas. Check out their stickers. They'd work on your SVX.

I already checked that rout. They do have some nice ones but there is a guy down the street from me that will make whatever I want and install it for next to nothing. Last night I had him make a silver strip go across my windshieled, and cut out Subaru emblims on both sides with Subaru in the center. Looks nice, and it brakes up the darkness of the upper part of the car.

I agree - if I was going to use these stickers, I would cut off the excess wordage and just keep "SVX".

Um, no that's not correct. Just think of the motor as an inline six cylinder, DOHC =2 cams. Now cut the entire motor apart and stick the cylinders side by side. You still only have two cams, they are just cut in half. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. Unlike the '96-'00 2.5 motor, the SVX 3.3 doesn't have the t/belt going around 4 cam sprockets. The cam timing is achieved by gears *behind* the timing cover.

I wouldn't put them on in the first place. To me, the essence of good Italian design is (generally) a simplicity and cleaness of line, with a minimum of superfluous decoration. (Bad Italian design, OTOH......) Somehow, pasting SVX stickers all over the car is cluttering up a very clean design with extraneous stuff. Strips across the top of the windshield with SVX in big letters, bras with SVX in big letters, all that just detracts from the design, IMHO. But to each his or her own.

Your mileage may vary.
