North Cali quasi-meet

Anyone interested in a quick little Northern Cali meet August 21-22? We could go Reno, Tahoe, Fresno, San Jose, SF. I wish I knew any track or import functions we could attend. Any interest?

I'd be up for a meet. It will give me the opportunity to show off my new interior. :) We have had a couple of meets here in the Bay Area. There's some great drives through the Santa Cruz Mountains.

I think Reno/Tahoe would be a little far for a day trip for most people from SF/SJ area. There is a big meet next summer in Reno you can sign up for.

If Ken wants to go, maybe we can hold it a little closer to him. Maybe something around Napa?

I've talked with the Bruce at Subaru Santa Cruz and he mentioned that we can have one of our meets at their place. They would throw a little BBQ and put the SVX up on a hoist for us to look at. We could make a day of it with a dive from the South Bay through the Santa Cruz Mtn to Santa Cruz. We'd have to do this with a little more notice so I can get everything arranged with Bruce. Maybe do this one sometime late fall (Oct time frame?).

Ok, I can go anytime during the year, on weekends only. October sounds good to me too. Hopefully it will give me some time to repaint the car. I will confirm this in a couple of weeks, when i get my college schedule.

Hey Yon! Glad to hear from you! And all of you guys who are planing to meet.

If we are meeting in Santa Cruz, then i have a perfect rout for you to take to get there. IF you take 17 towards Santa Cruz, and then take an exit on Summit Road, it is almost at the top, go towards Soquell Forest, then turn right on the first stop sign, it will be Soquell drive, and speed all the way to Santa Cruz through the winding road. That will take you a bit too south from Santa Cruz, but hey, only 7 minutes to get back on HW 1.

So that is one alternative. Oh, btw, can we find some picture friendly place, somewhere on the beach?

BTW, if we are going to santa cruz, and after the meet, any of you want to just stay on the ocean beach, and do some surfing, then you are more then welcome. I just got in to that, and SVX, can transport up to 3 short 6 - 6.4 surfboards, with to people. he he.

I can make Oct 18/19 or 27/28 weekend. If that's no good, then I can't make it until mid-Nov. If we plan on a Saturday, we can get the Santa Cruz Subaru dealership involved in some way. If anyone has any ideas on what we would like them to do, let me know and I'll talk to them. I was figuring we could go for a BBQ there and they could put the car up on the hoist for us and we can ask questions on how to fix stuff. They are also open to other suggestions.

Is anyone here right now? For the past two weeks i met two SVXes. Never took a closer look at both. One is a red one, and second one is blue. One on 680 going South, San Jose, and second 880 East, today at 7am.

So, i would love to meet more! Are we still doing the meet or not?

I have a picture of Yon's SVX. It looks very nice, in person it looks better though.

Preference to drive? Well, if we are planing to meet in santa cruz, and if you guys are coming from Bay Area, when taking 17, instead of taking it all the way to santa cruz, take an exit on the Summit road, which is almost at the summit. AS you proceed South, in about 10 or less minutes, you will approach a first stop sign. Turn left, on Soquell Dr, and that will lead you all the way to Santa Cruz. Well, only 5 exits south, one before 41st street. It is a nice curvy drive, with some scenes.

Yep, I am in for 22nd. what time? 10AM? And where are we meeting? Well, on where are we meeting we can discuss later. I might have to get back earlier though, by like 4 - 5 pm, that is the only thing, i am not sure yet though.

I don't see much interest in the meet. i will put a post on the Yahoo! board and I will bump up the thread in the General Babble forumn to see if we get a response. If not, we'll put it off until we can get more people together. I wonder what it takes to get people off their couches and into their cars here in the Bay Area?

Well, I guess we can postpone it for about a month or too. I am having some difficult time gathering stuff myself right now. Have to do transfer applications, plus finals are coming along. As soon as December hits, I might have more time. I will try to update my www.svxmeet.tk website, i don't think it is working now, because the server is down.

So yeah, till then...... i will wait with what yahoo people have to say...

Yon how about this weekend? I still deliver auto body parts M-F
I drive thru Walnut Creek everyday. Only I will be in my work truck A Ford F-150. If it's on A weekend I will roll in my SVX.

I will be rolling through Walnet Creek (and Sacramento) on Saturday morning on my Tahoe. I "need" to get to the snow that will hopefully be coming down on Friday (assuming I can believe the weather reports). I could stop for a quick photo op if something is going on around the time I pass by.

I would like to put together a meet..in the BAY AREA in teh summer time..maybe july or AUG.. in my area we do have NASCAR in the NAPA area during that time frame if that interests anyone....also...we have some locations open int eh sonoma area that we can run'um around alil...I dunno.....ANY interest for some members to have a lil "Get together?"

Reno is ok except for the heat in August. So I would not be bringing SWMBO if the meet is in Reno. I know there isn't a lot of calendar difference, but how about in conjunction with the Air Races later in September?
