this came from a suggestion on another thread, seemed
like a fun idea to start up again......
Heres a pic of the city, well part of it not on fire :)
From up on the mt looking down on a corner of the town..

oh, I mean northern border Catalina Mountain range...
which is burning down more each day. Ive lived here
20 yrs and never seen it this bad. Either way, I realized I need more pics of where I live......doh

I need to take some shots of my town. Funny how you can live in a place ~10 years and never take a picture of it. I've got some really nice views of the town I live in...but haven't bothered to take any pictures.

I vow to do just that over the next few days.

Anyway here's one of a typical Vermont road with a few of our favorite subjects....

I must have taken this one when I was REALLY high in the plane.

I took the aerial route as well, but can't take credit for the photo.

Well, here's a picture of my little piece of the earth. It's small, but I like it. And it also means I have the only SVX in the area. My place is literally just out of view in the upper left corner.

Darksied,
Are you a pilot? Is that a 172 or 152? I see the strut. I'm looking into a possible partnership with an old Cherokee 140/160.

Nice shot.

Here is a pic of Main Street in the winter. Brrrrrr. :)

And this is Pittsburgh. Slippery rock is where I live, and is about a half hour north of pittsburgh. I just say Pittsburgh because people know where it is, and i spend most of my time there. :)

PILOT?! Man, I took my feet off the ground once in my life, in a Maine Forestry Service helicopter, and promply puked my guts up when we landed. I only did it in the first place because it was required to get my Maine Wildfire Combat certification. Me and flying don't get along too well. The picture is from my town's website. It's hard to take a good picture of my town from the ground, too many trees. BTW, cool name, same as mine.

jscorse
06-25-2003, 08:40 AM
Ya,
The trees cause problems for ground shots AND when the engine quits.

I've flown over Maine at night. Man! it's dark down there......

So...no fire jumping for you huh?

I've been running into more Jeffs lately. It's kinda spooky. I now have a co-worker and we work on the same job and sit near each other. When one of the other engineers calls out Jeff we both have to stand up. doh!

I've always thought Jeff wasn't a very popular name, but now it seems I see 'them' every where. That's ok with me.

Darksied-X
06-25-2003, 08:50 AM
Nope, no fire jumping for me. I never minded running into a burning building, but jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is just insanity.

It's a dark picture, but I like it. You can see the silouettes of all the mountains I miss so much here in MI. It's so pretty, and I'm happy I got to grow up there

I don't live here, but I love to go here. So calm and beautiful. It's at about 13,000 ft. on a friend's property. It'd make a good Jeep ad :D

Yea, that lands end picture is awesome. I'm gonna have to counter with a view of Albuquerque from Sandia Peak. You know, everything is a competition ;). Nothing as beautiful (to me) as standing on a mountain and seeing a whole entire city of about 1 million, and still seeing empty land.

one of the cities parks, pics was taken in the winter
with a small storm moving in....
Its a nice place to get away from it all, and only
about a 20 min drive from midtown.

Its actually behind me...that was just the small lake
on the edge of it all......Some parks here arent like
east coast parks, alot of them are just areas of open
range land they sanction off as wild game reserves
and it has to stay basically all natural for a few hunrdred miles.

The benefit of having so much rain in seatte is that it makes things rather green:

I finally uploaded that picture.

I took the photo last month.

It's not my whole town, but the most important part (my house). ;)

My house is near the upper-right. It looks like it has a Christmas tree bisecting the front. That's really the ivy-covered chimney. It also looks like a black car is passing in front of my driveway. Find it? :D

Here's a pic of the road up to Land's End.. Went up there a few weeks ago to get some pics.. The car almost overheated, but the tranny temp never went above 260 with the oversized cooler :D

It would've been a good pic if the 10 mile dirt road didn't get my car filthy :(
