The fire on our northern border mountains
seems to be all over the news. Heres a few pics taken
from the desert just past my back yard.
At the moment its pretty tame looking, but its off
and on huge plumes of smoke......crazy.
This pic is of the northern mountain. Summerhaven
and Mt Lemmon is up there in the middle of the smoke.

so, when do you start hosing down your SVX (or start driving it out of town)? Wish we could send you some of the continuous rain we've been having out here for the last month+
Good luck!

Could use the rain, havent seen a drop in about 4 months...
We use to rent come nice cabins up there during the winter, but looks like not this yr. Its the only time Ive been able to test my Svx in the snow up there.

The city is surrounded by mountain ranges and
the closest ones north of the city are on fire, and
if you look to the east range (Rincon Mts) they are also
ablaze. At nite you can see the orange glow of the flames
very well.
Esp knowing how many cabins up there and homes
are gone. Ski resort is long gone too.
Everyone always goes up there during the summer
months to get away from the 100+ degree weather
in the valley. Now all we'll be able to go up there and
see when they re open the hwy is torched pines and furs.

looking eastward....
they arent trying to put out this fire as much
as they are the other larger one, since its in a less
populated area....
But its a constant reminder.....
Anyone tired or rain or water.....this would be a good place
to live.

Although I am really tired of all the rain,it is much preferred over fire and smoke:)

4-5 months of just sunshine is hard to leave...
the fires are few and far between thank god, and
the wind is blowing north, so weve been lucky not to
get smoke in the valley.
I like seeing where other people live and their city, gives you
ideas where to visit one day.
Maybe we should start a post of "pics of your town" :)

I LOVE that idea. I don't get here much lately, but I'm always attracted to posts with attachements.

It's not that I don't LOVE to read our combined ramblings....its just that, well to quote a familiar phrase... I picture's worth a 100 words.

Let's see what I got on my HD... my wife is a photo nut, in only a year and a half she's easily shot over 9000 photos. All 4GB on our HD and backed up on DVD (the only place it would fit)

Oh back to the subject. I was out in AZ last year on business. Nice place to visit...but too flat and brown for me. And DAMN hot.

People complain about the cold up here, but it's ok...It's a dry cold. :D

Well...all I could find on my work HD was a shot of my driveway...

not a bad idea dayle, i'll see if i can find some shots of atlanta. hmm...well it'll look like the smoke from all the smog. first thing i noticed when i went to florida was the clear sky and the smog free air. i almost gagged from all that clean air.

I'm rather fond of your state's huge cacti, I don't like to think of them toasted. Nice photos, though.

Its been now like 3 weeks....and over 35k acres.
Its a huge range, it goes from the to the front depending on the wind.....It can burn plenty more if you look to the left of the smoke....not in the pic, the west side of the range is on fire too.
not as bad, but its all over the place.

in as much as they have tried to control fire in the area and let too much under brush and deadfall build up? Other than the property damage are you hearing anything about this being good for the range in general?

 Wow, those are amazing photos, I didn't realize how close it was. The air quality must be awful.

Hey, is there any chance you could get a pic of an svx in front of the volcanoish background? :)
