To All that Are Interested - specifically, Mike, John, Ron, and Don:

The first autocross of the season with the local (to Washington, DC area) will be held at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Site in Maryland on 27 April (Sunday). This is the first time we have used this site for an autocross, and is likely the only time this year - all other autocrosses will be at the usual location, James Wood High School in Winchester, VA.
Go to the Mercedes web site at >www.gws-mbca.org/events< and click on "Directions" to learn how to get to both WSSC and James Wood High School - the schedule is there as well.

Come join the fun - it's a great way to the relieve stress of the week!:D :D :D

Hey, Harry - Thanks for putting this one on my doorstep. Well, about 15 miles south from the doormat, but pretty close. The locality is Silver Spring, MD, with easy access from everywhere, so I would hope we could attract a few DC area SVXes as well. I think you (I?) should post on General Babble too. See you SUNDAY.

Ron.

Go for it, Ron. You are much more astute on this web thing than I am.
Also, would you IM me with your e-mail address - I thought I had it, but I don't for some reason. At least I can not find it. Or maybe in your profile? I'll have to look.

Also, be sure John and Mike get the word on the autocross being in Maryland rather than Winchester on 27 April.

Great seeing you in Reading, and I'll see you on the 27th at the WSSC. Should be fun! BTW, check out the pics of Reading in my locker.

Hi Harry, It was nice meeting you at READING 4. Thats a nice picture of my car that you took. I haven't done anything with my digital photos yet. Maybe this weekend. It took me till about Thursday to get to feeling normal. Take care, BOBB

Hey, Bobb. Help me out. Which pic - I'll go back and change the title of the pic. I always have trouble putting people's names to cars.:o But glad you liked the pic. Great time and great meeting you in Reading.

My sister is coming for a visit on Friday, and won't be leaving until Sunday morning....

....I guess that takes care of THIS autocross as far as I'm concerned.

Harry,
sorry I didn't get to say hello - you were too busy making runs and getting back in line. I'm sure John's wife enjoyed her ride (what did the announcer say about it not being a road rally:D ) and Mike enjoyed his (very smooth through the cones -- not like the WRX that followed and ate at least 3 cones).
What tires were you running?

Bill,
How did I miss you? ! .. Sorry also that we didn't get to speak.

Yep, that first corner was a lot slicker than I imagined. And as I was pulling out of the "ruff", my thoughts were, "Oh, the Beauty of All Wheel Drive" :D .

But RUFUS did REALLY well. In his first autocross he went from 57 seconds down to 51 sec !!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, he is VERY smooth. He will do well in autocross too! And I think he actually enjoys it!!:D

I am running Kumho VictoRacer V700 racing tires - usuall get two autocross seasons out of them. I'm quite please with them, especially for the cost (about $140 ea).

Come again, and let's get together. The next autocross will be in Winchester, but it looks now like we will alternate with the WCCS facility where we were yesterday. Not a bad place at all.

BTW, John's wife Tricia is planning to autocross next time too - maybe even JOHN!
Take care,
Harry

Harry,
Looking forward to talking with you next time...my kids are already "on me" to run the course next time (need to get the back brakes all straighted out first:D ).
Please let me know when the next session at WSSC is planned.
Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. That was more fun than I could even have imagined. Harry, thanks a lot for all the pointers, too. I am counting the days until the next event, now, and I'm not sure I can wait that long. :D

By the way, how long does it usually take them to post the results?

Did anyone get any good pictures yet?

Mike, John, Tricia, Ron, Bill,
I have some pics of yesterday. Here's the first. I am not sure how many I can attach at one time, but I am assuming only one. So, I'll post a few more and then put them in my locker.

Again, Great job, Mike. For someone that started out wanted to "just break a minute, your 51 second run was darn GOOD!

And, Ron. Do you have any pic's?

BTW, the SVX "beat" the Focus SVT by a full 2 seconds. Of course, we won't mention that Tom (my son) didn't have racing tires:D

Time difference? 49.2 sec vs 47.1 sec. Oh, the Mustang Cobra? 44.5 seconds. But with SCCA index'ing? We'll see.....

Mike it will probably be a week or so before the results are on the club's web site. It will be interesting!

Mike,
Your BABY! Now when are you going to put the SVX out there?

Ron? John? I know Tricia is ready!

And Bill? Sounds like you are ready too! I think we will be back at the WSSC in June - it was such a great place, we have decided to alternate the sites between WSSC and Winchester.

Yup - I gots lotsa' pics of Mike dodging the cones on REAL Kodiak FILL-UM. No digital crap for me. It's the ANTICIPATION, the waiting, & hoping that the lens cap was off, that makes photography exciting for me. So, I figger the roll will be finished by October. What's the rush? Order your 8 X 10s now!

Ron, you are toooooo much!

Now in October, get a CD of the photos when you get them developed, and PRESTO. You are in the digital world!

Great seeing you yesterday, Ron. Glad you finally found us, and thanks again for bringing lunch. We missed the boxowine, but then again, I might have had another "off-course" excursion!

And didn't RUFUS really do well!
Later,
Harry

YES - I think we can now call Rufus, "Mr. 51 second man". Now THAT'S a title to be proud of, especially while on a hot date.

Ron (Mr. Rushmore).

Harry/Mike/et al,

I took 3-4 pictures on good old analog film of Harry at the line with Trish and Mike riding co-pilot...I'll post as soon as I get them developed and scanned.
-Bill
p.s. yes, I'm definitely got the "bug" -- Harry, what does it do "class wise" if I have stainless steel brake lines on all four wheels and Raceconcepts rotors on the front? Guess going to Konis and GC coils only makes matters worse?

newsvx

Bill,
I am not sure, but I'll see if I can find a SCCA rules book. However, I do believe the brake lines will bump you up to "street prepared". Perhaps not that, but it will take you out of G Stock. Konis for sure. I don't think the new rotors will affect your class, especially if you consider the brake lines.

Looking forward to seeing the pics!
Harry
